Are white people noticing racism?
The truth is throughout the decades more and more white people have agreed that racism is a real. More white people have noticed that racism is happening still. With help from the media, technology, and other ways of communication has helped reshape the racial discrimination. Examples are movements such as “All Lives Matter”, Tv shows, radio, and even the Internet. With all of these examples they spread the word about racial bias, making a huge difference in the case as a whole. With this happening, white people throughout the years have noticed. With the help from W.K Kellogg Foundation they have analysis, which they have gotten from The Associated Press the actual percentages of racial discrimination or bias. Since the 2008 Presidential Elections they have seen a decrease in friendly relations between the whites, blacks, and the Hispanics. During the winter in 2009, associations NBC and the Wall Street Journal had people of all colors vote and they have stated 64 percent of Hispanics, 76 percent of blacks, and last whites had a 79 percent. All cultures had that same ideal. The same poll 7 years later had shown a increase in race relationships, being for whites 33 percent, 38 percent of Hispanics, and for blacks 26 percent. In all, the impact of what the media and technology world has done, has improved the relationship between races. Another set of polls that have been taken have shown that America’s justice system is bias. In 1995, CBS and the New York Times had a poll put in place. For blacks that had voted had a 51 percent said the criminal justice system was bias to whites. As for the white only had 15 percent said that America’s law system had a racial bias. In 2015, those percentages had a increase. Kaiser Family Foundation, CNN, and Gallup ran a poll and that said whites believed that the Law system was bias against blacks. The number of whites who believed this is 44 percent and for blacks who say that their is a racial bias had a 77 percentage. These percentages and polls have shown that our Law system is bias. Not only the Criminal Justice System shows bias, but the actual Law Enforcement Officials are bias. Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research had a vote put into place in the summer of July 2015. The poll said that officers of the law treated colored people worse, being 47 percent. 81 percentage of blacks feel that is true, but for whites said that 52 percent said that police treat all colored people all the same. Whites said that 45 percent of whites blame poor relations were to blame for the treatment of colored groups. For blacks in the same poll said 73 percent agreed to that. With that, people can agree on that police had a certain amount of bias towards colored or ethnic groups compared to white people. But some people or organizations have taken steps to repair the racial discrimination of colored people. Kellogg has 35 million in the next 7 years have put forth a promise to help countries like South Africa. This being the first time the United States of America had put forth such national interest, the last was our former President Bill Clinton in 1997. The former President had a national conversation in the race of ‘97. The chief executive officers did president of Kellogg had this to say about the matter, “ We're seeing an unprecedented moment in time where the human will is in a place… for an opportunity for greater shared learning and understanding of one of one another, a space to create conversation and action.” In all, people have learned to accept but not all have The points made have clearly stated racism is still happening. It has been shown from the polls and the percentages. The American Justice system has been shown to be bias. The police have been shown to have a bias to groups. Yet, there is still organizations, over 50 trying to fix the problems. All of these examples that has happened have shown the past of racism and how far we have come. As more and more white and other colors have grown to move past what has happened. In conclusion, whites have evolved in a way to understand what racism is and is still happening. |
